Purple Hairstreak, female, Havant Thicket, Hampshire. July 2021.
This was unexpected.   Purple Hairstreaks usually leave the tops of their Oaks only to nectar on brambles or other flowers.   This lady
was sitting on a pebble in the middle of the track; it was really lucky that I was looking down or I might have trodden on her.   I picked
up her pebble and moved her to the side of the track whereupon she fluttered back up to the treetops.   Bless her!
